Police in Nkhata Bay are keeping in the cooler Henry Shaba for threatening to shoot Kondwani Mhone with a muzzle loader at Chikwina in the district.
The district’s Police spokesperson Ignatius Esau said Shaba has been in marriage for three years but earlier this year, his wife divorced him and got married to Kondwani Mhone.
“This development did not please him and in retaliation, on June 5, 2017 Shaba took a muzzle loader and went to Chikwina trading center where he threatened to shoot Mhone. He was later arrested by members of community policing and the muzzle loader was recovered”, said Esau.
Esau further said after the community apprehended him they informed the Police who rushed to the crime scene and arrested the suspect.
Henry Shaba, 33 hails from Mtalama village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwahenga in Rumphi district. He will appear in court soon to answer a charge of threatening violence contrary to sectional 86 of the penal code.
