Malawians Be warned; Scammers And Fraudisters Swindling Malawians Money In The Name Of Promotions.

Some unsuspecting Malawians have recently been caught up in different scam scandles which have seen them losing money after receiving anonymous calls from scammers.

Infromation sourced by this publication indicates that these fraudisters call Malawians that they have won prizes from different promotions conducted in the country.

These fraudisters have been calling these unsuspecting Malawians that they have won building equipments such as iron sheets, nails, paints and cement. After receiving these calls they are told to call back and get details of how to collect the specified stuff. But it has come to lime light that before the collection these people do order the victims to deposit some money to make transport arrangements and after doing that they disappear.

Alot of warning messages have been circulated by welwishers to the would be victims so that they should be aware of the situation when it comes their way.

In a recent development, it looks like they have changed the tune after some Malawians have discovered their tricks and now they have started using another trick to which will enable them to swindle money from Malawians.

This publication understands that now they have started making phone calls claiming that they are from mobile Service provider and they ask the mobile user to shutdown the phone for 2 hours for 3G update to take place.

According to our sources, after switching off your phone, they call your relatives and tell them to deposit some amount of money into their accounts so that they should release you. This system works as if the mobile user has been kidnapped hence putting the family members under pressure to deposit the money quickly before the the two hour mark has elapsed.

During this so called 3G update time, relatives will try to call the victim and possibly they will not find them since the phone is off and this will give them an approval that their child has been kidnapped and inturn they will go and deposit the agreed amount to release their relative.

This is an eye opener to those would be victims of these fraudulent actions that when they receive such calls they should not adhere but refrain from any of their tricks to avoid losing their hard work earned money.

Malawian Man Commits Suicide After His Wife Denies Him Sex.

A 33 year old man identified by the Police as Genesis Simkhoza has taken his own life by hanging himself to the roof of his house after his wife denied him of his conjugal right.

According to a Police report made available to this publication by Mchinji Police Publist Kaitano Lubrino stipulates that on August 2, Simkhoza arrived home late at around 1900 hours whilst drunk, a thing which displeased his wife Blandina Kajawa, 29.

“Blandina said that her husband requested to sleep with her as a husband and wife of which she was not pleased. After denying a quarrel broke out between the two, a situation that prompted his wife to leave the house and slept at her parent’s home same night”, said Kaitano.

Inspector Kaitano said because of alcoholic influence, he followed his wife and whilst there he continued using obscene language a thing which increased tension between them.

“Reacting to this, the wife thought it wise to inform the relatives of the deceased over the behaviour her husband had demonstrated”.

“While the wife was still consulting her relatives, Simkhoza went back to his house where it is believed that he willfully damaged and destroyed both windows and doors of his house before hanging himself to the roof”, added Kaitano.

It was too late for Blandina to rescue her husband as by the time the wife came back home she found that Simkhoza had already taken his last breath.

Postmortem conducted by Mchinji District Hospital officials revealed that he died due to strangulation.

The deceased Genesis Simkhoza, 33 hailed from Malindima village in the area of Traditional Authority Simphasi in Mchinji district.

Meanwhile the police is advising the general public to avoid resorting in taking own lives as a remedy for problem solving when one is confronted with tough situations instead share all your grievances with reliable personnel for a proper help.

Aford Calls Joyce Banda’s Warrant Of Arrest Another Political Gimmick Aimed At Fooling Malawians.

Aford Calls Joyce Banda’s Warrant Of Arrest Another Political Gimmick Aimed At Fooling Malawians.

The Revamp Aford Movement have openly critised the Malawi government for failing to take to account those leaders who have been involved in miscelleneous criminal activities in the country.

In their statement RAMO said it is worried that this warrant of arrest issued against the former Malawi president Joyce Banda is just another gimmick that will lead Malawi nowhere but aimed at fooling Malawians.

“RAMO has noted that Malawi police service has obtained the warrant of arrest for former President Joyce Banda, as RAMO we are delighted to a certain extent knowing that all Presidents have done the same in the past but without the accused being convicted”, read part of their statement.

RAMO further said the ruling government is playing games aimed at making them believe that the government is doing all it can to curb the parasite which has been secretly eating Malawi known as “corruption” but their history is opposite.

“For example, former state President Dr Bakili Muluzi is still a free man after being the accused for more than a decade. We hold the popular belief that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government is using this case to gain political mileage and persecute the competition”.

The revamped party further said that they want the DPP led government to feed Malawians with a big humble pie by prosecuting all the those who have broken the law including the famous former Agriculture Minister George Chaponda who has been involved in a recent maize-gate saga.

“RAMO will be very happy to see those who are involved in CORRUPTION behind bars and pay back the money which was meant to help the less priviledged. We have welcomed the warrant to arrest Dr Joyce Banda but we are treading carefully knowing that all former presidents have gone through the same thing but none has been prosecuted”.

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) on Monday , July 31, 2017 obtained a warrant of arrest against former President Joyce Banda in connection with the cashgate scandal.

Joyce Banda was a Malawi leader from 2012 to 2014 and went into self-imposed exile after losing 2014 tripartite elections to the current ruling party, the DPP. An independent audit analysis funded by the German government established that over K550 billion was unaccounted for during the period that Joyce Banda was president.

Malawi Police Services National Spokesperson James Kadadzera said in a statement that the warrant of arrest has been issued against the former president over cashgate cases in which huge sums of money were looted.

According to a statement signed by James Kadadzera stipulates that the law enforcers through its Fiscal and Fraud Section conducted investigations on the suspected involvement of the Peoples Party president Joyce Banda in cashgate cases and unearthed credible evidence.

The statement says the evidence gathered raises reasonable suspicion that the former president committed offences relating to abuse of office and money laundering.

“Since there is a need for investigations to question the former president on the suspected offences, a warrant of arrest was issued against her. This warrant of arrest is in force and necessary legal formalities are being pursued”, read part of the statement.

James Kadadzera said the warrant has been made public because the issue of cashgate is in the public interest therefore he wants Malawians to know how far they have gone with their investigations.

Murder Cases Increases In The Northern Region As Police Releases Crime Statistics

Good anti-crime strategies being pursued by the police in the northern region are paying off as crime has dropped by 15 percent in the first six months of 2017, compared to the same period last year.

According to the Northern Region Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Kalaya, said statistics show that a total of 2386 cases have been reported in the said period this year as compared to 2792 cases which were reported in 2016 representing a 15 percent drop.

Superintendent Kalaya said while rape and defilement cases have decreased by 92 percent and 35 percent respectively, murder cases have increased by 23.7 percent.

A total of 13 rape cases were reported in the first half of 2016 while only one has been reported this year. 153 cases of defilement were recorded in the region in the first six months of 2016 while 105 cases have been reported in the same period this year.

“The region has recorded a total of 47 muder cases this year as compared to 38 cases reported during the same period in 2016”, said Kalaya.

The statistics also reveal a 11 percent decrease in road accidents though fatal road accidents have jumped by almost 23 percent with 17 more people being killed this year than in the same period last year.

The spokesperson further said in total, 59 people lost their lives in road accidents in the region in the first six months of 2016 as compared to 79 people this year.

While 152 road accidents were recorded in the first six months of 2016 in the region, only 135 accidents have been reported this year representing a 11.2 percent decrease.

The decrease in in the crime rate and road accidents in the region is attributed to officers adherence to an anti-crime strategy which was set at the onset of the year by the regional top management spearheaded by the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Madame Martha Suwedi PPM.

In the strategy, the region set itself an ambitious target to reduce crime and road accidents by at least 40 percent.

In the strategy, each station has been mandated to revamp and activate its Community Policing Forums (CPFs) and the regional community policing and public relations departments have been involved in awareness meeting with the public through roadshows, school outreach programs and engaging both print and electronic members of the media.

Out of the seven police stations in the region, Mzuzu Police has out performed the rest by reducing its crime by 21 percent.
