Both fitness trackers have a normal watch-style clasp mechanism which is made of soft rubber and are therefore comfortable to wear. The vivosmart HR is, however, a bit bulkier and it sticks to the wrist due to its bigger display

The charge HR can only display a call notification while the Garmin vivosmart will be able to display any call, text, email, twitter, Instagram, Facebook and basically any push notification on your device. Unlike the charge HR, the vivosmart will also show you the weather and let you control your music too.

Both trackers have the same accuracy level of steps tracking. They do also have an optical heart rate monitor that can record your active and resting heart rate. The vivosmart HR offers more accurate resting heart rate data than the charge HR but the accuracy of the active heart rate is almost the same.

The vivosmart HR is water resistant up to 5atm which means you can even swim on the water surface without
having to go deeper than 5meters below the water surface with it while the charge HR is only resistant to sweat and water splashes. The vivosmart is also resistant to rainwater but it is not advisable to take a shower with it.
Both trackers battery life can last up to 5days although when it comes to low charge notification, the vivosmart is offering low battery warning when it is already too late.
The Software
Both apps are available for Android and IOS devices. The charge software has always been good when it comes to usage due to its simple, easy to use interface. The software also displays your stats on the main screen and you don’t have to keep on navigating to access your required information.
The software is orderly too and it doesn’t seem stuffed. On the left, there is a slide-out menu which will show you your friends, your challenges, your account and manage alarms too.

Snapshots contain all your activities of the day including steps, sleep, active heart rate etc. All your workouts are listed in the news feed while the calendar gives you the details of your activities for each day you have worn your vivosmart hr device. The insight contains tricks from Garmin to help you in your workouts.
Conclusion
The charge HR is retailing at a price of $130 on Amazon while the vivosmart is selling at $150 on the same store. Generally, the vivosmart HR seems to be superior to the Fitbit charge HR with all its additional features and great performance achievements.
The fact that you can swim with it and its ability to display more notification is just great.
